Tom discovered the beauty of the Fraser Valley in 2021, after retiring from Microsoft and 25 years in the tech industry. He is striving to compensate for a long career under fluorescent lights.
Tom’s passion for community radio dates to 1981, when as a student he began volunteering at KRCL in Salt Lake City. After paying his DJ dues in the dreaded 3am-6am slot, he spent 8-plus years in weekly morning drivetime slots. He then joined the station’s Board, where he served as Treasurer during a period of significant growth, which included a capital campaign to fund a permanent physical home.

After moving to the Seattle area, he joined the board of Valley 104.9, an LPFM station serving a small rural community. This included four years hosting the weekly “Roots and Riffs” music program.
Tom’s excited to join the KFFR Board, and help with fundraising, growth strategy, long-term planning, and the next level of the station’s community engagement and service.
