Mastering the Soundboard: Part 2 (of 2)
Part 2 moves from “run a great show” to “run the system.” We focus on deeper board skills, studio infrastructure, and higher-level troubleshooting so DJs can confidently handle more complex live and remote productions.
Required for Part 2:
Each participant must arrive with a recorded show (or show segment) for review. We’ll listen together, identify what’s working, and pick 1–2 specific improvements to apply immediately (levels, transitions, mic technique, pacing, use of beds/SFX, etc.).
In Part 2, DJs learn and practice:
-
Deeper M32 workflow (practical controls, routing awareness, troubleshooting habits)
-
Dante orientation at a practical level (what it is, what can break, what DJs should and shouldn’t touch)
-
Phones and call screening (on-air procedure and avoiding common mistakes)
-
Remotes: KFFR vs KWTR signal paths, monitoring, and delay-aware coordination
-
Student radio routing and how to put it on air
-
Automation basics: how it functions, what to do when something behaves unexpectedly
-
Advanced “fix-it-fast” scenarios using meters, routing checks, and calm step-by-step diagnosis
