The Sound of Grand County is a project that was initiated by KFFR in 2023 and partially funded by the Grand County Tourism Board.  Its goal is to provide a platform for local musicians to showcase their talents and share their music with a wider audience, while promoting the culture and identity of Winter Park and the surrounding area.

Now in its fourth year of operation, this initiative has made significant strides in celebrating the rich artistic tapestry in Winter Park and Grand County. In its inaugural year, the Sound of Grand County featured three events, each highlighting a unique facet of the local cultural landscape.

The first event celebrated the ranching and cowboy culture that is deeply rooted in the history of the county.

The second event showcased local funk, punk and hip-hop artists who are often underrepresented in the traditional musical acts common to the area.

The third event was a powerful tribute to women artists whose voices and creativity enrich the region.

This project serves as a powerful avenue for local musicians to gain recognition, share their talents, and promote the vibrant artistic scene in the county.

Each event post has archived music from the musicians that performed that evening.

The second Sound of Grand County of 2026 brings a new vibe to the KFFR stage. After kicking off the series with hard-hitting punk and metal, we’re turning the dial toward something a little softer without losing any of the groove, soul, or fun that makes SOGC special.

The Line Up:

Mr. World Famous himself, Russ Martin, setting the tone with a solo Country Americana Rock set full of storytelling, grit, and hometown heart. If you’ve heard Russ behind the mic, this is your chance to hear him where it all starts, guitar in hand.

Easy Forward brings a rich mix of acoustic and electric instrumentation, blending roots-rock, alt-country, and Americana into a sound that feels both timeless and fresh. Their songs and covers are built for listening close, nodding along, and settling into the moment. This is the kind of music that fills a room without trying too hard.

Join us for another night of local music, community connection, and live radio, broadcast straight from KFFR Studios!
