A Celebration of Talent, Creativity, and Community! 🎉
Youth Week 2025 was a HUGE success, filled with incredible moments that showcased the amazing young talent in Grand County!
From Youth DJ takeovers to live performances, podcasts, and community conversations, this week proved that the future of media, music, and community engagement is in great hands. 💫
Here’s a look at some of the memorable highlights that made this year’s Youth Week truly special…
Youth DJs: Taking Over the Airwaves 🎧
We kicked things off with our Youth DJ Takeovers, featuring West Grand and East Grand youth, who took over the airwaves with their music, creativity, and enthusiasm! 🎶
West Grand Youth DJ Takeover
Grayson, Aubrey, and Korden hit the mic with incredible energy, playing their favorite tunes and engaging with listeners for the 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM shift!
Our own long-time Youth DJ Rollin’ Col (Colvin) helped mentor the new DJs by letting them shadow and contribute to the show.
DJ Jojo came in later to help the West Grand DJs. They were not only behind the mic and choosing the music but read off our daily logs and operated the sound board.
Grayson, Aubrey, and Korden walked away enriched and had a blast. We awarded them with some KFFR swag (hats and stickers) as a thank you for being part of our Youth Week.
Special thanks to Andrew Mericle for coordinating with us escorting the students through this amazing experience! 🌟
East Grand Youth DJ Takeover
Cohen, Zaria, Max, and Hazel brought their A-game from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM!
With DJ Rausch, DJ Jojo, and DJ Wheeler mentoring them, these young talents truly rocked the airwaves and made the community proud! 🎤
DJ Jojo taught them how to be behind the mic and choosing the music but read off our daily logs and operated the sound board. DJ Wheeler took over as mentor to co-host with the Youth DJs for the remaining time.
Cohen, Zaria, Max, and Hazel walked away having great fun and excitement about their time in the studio. We awarded them with some KFFR swag (hats and stickers) as a thank you for being part of our Youth Week.
Special thanks to DJ Rausch for coordinating with us and helping the students through this amazing experience! 🌟

Esteban Aguilar Piñeiro & Orion Ilgner
Two youth musicians from West Grand left everyone in awe with their musical range, original music, and creativity!
Both are graduating this year and moving into studying and developing their musical skills.
Adrien Brower
Originally, from East Grand Adrien performed live with his guest band, delivering a soulful saxophone performance that captivated the audience and left us all wanting more!
The Band:
Saxophone: Adrien Brower

The energy was electric, and we can’t wait to continue celebrating local youth talent next year!
Public Affairs: Thoughtful Conversations and Podcasting 🎙️
These talented students shared their insights and experiences about their time with the Radio Club, diving into what they’ve learned about broadcasting, radio production, and more!
It was such an inspiring conversation and a great way to celebrate the future voices of Grand County! We’re proud to support these young broadcasters and can’t wait to see what they do next!
Mother’s Day Special: Grand Kids Learning at KFFR Studios 💐
We were also thrilled to welcome Grand Kids Learning to KFFR Studios this morning on May 6th, where they celebrated Mother’s Day in the best way possible! 🌸💖
These amazing kids, under the guidance of DJ Mojo and our Executive Director, Ryan Wilson shared their Mother’s Day love on the airwaves.
They also recorded special thank-you messages to their moms with Rachel Williams, our Content Director, in the recording studio. 🎤💕
The energy and love these kids brought to the station was heartwarming, and we are so grateful to be able to give them a platform to share their appreciation for the important women in their lives. 💐
Special thanks to Grand Kids Learning Center for coordinating, escorting, and supervising all the little ones for Youth Week 2025.
Additional Highlights
Fraser Elementary Choir kicked off the week with a live performance on KFFR 88.3 FM! 🎶 The kids’ beautiful voices filled the air, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to start Youth Week 2025. 🎤🎵
On Wednesday, May 7th, students from Middle Park High School took us on an unforgettable journey as they shared stories from their rafting trip through Desolation and Gray Canyons on the Green River in Utah. 🛶💦 Their inspiring reflections about team-building, the wilderness experience, and the environment left us all in awe. 🌲🌍
The Career Fair student panel on Thursday, May 8th, was another fantastic event where students shared their aspirations, discussed potential career paths, and inspired their peers to think about the future. 🎓💼
