KFFR Community Radio celebrates local youth and the educators who inspire them, Monday, May 8 – Sunday, May 14, 2023.

KFFR supports local culture and public safety through independent community access radio that connects Grand County residents and visitors to one another and the world.  As part of that mission, KFFR empowers local youth through internships, classroom partnerships and broadcast training.

Tune in all week to hear our youth voices on the radio:

Monday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m., fourth graders from Fraser Valley Elementary sing songs and present a class audio project about local historical figures.

Tuesday, May 9, at 11:30 a.m., high school students from Middle Park High School will participate in a live broadcast from the school featuring a panel discussion about issues that impact local youth.

Wednesday, May 10, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., preschoolers from Grand Beginnings will be in the studio talking about Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and will play their favorite tunes for the community.

KFFR will then return to MPHS on Thursday, May 11 to attend the student career fair. There will be a live broadcast featuring West Grand High School students about the career fair and their future and opportunities in Grand County and beyond.

Friday, May 12, starting at 9:00 a.m. former KFFR interns will take over the controls and play some of their favorite music while reflecting on their time working at KFFR.

ALL WEEK: KFFR will air archived recordings of youth projects from the history of the station.

The festivities will then be rebroadcast throughout the weekend on KFFR.

KFFR’s youth programs are supported by a grant from Grand County. Live broadcasts are made possible by funding from the Grand Foundation and the Fraser River Valley Lions Club.

Support for Youth Week comes from a grant awarded by the Grand County Board of County Commissioners.  Remote broadcast equipment was purchased with funding from the Fraser River Valley Lions Club and the Grand Foundation.
